On a weekend Melinda enjoys family time at the airport, flying and hosting flight simulator sessions for local students. She is the Education Chair for the Royal Aeronautical Society and site on several aerospace boards. She established her own aviation non profit in 2015 in the USA and loves to rebuild airplanes with middle and high school students. Viteri has for the past five years worked at the British International School of Washington DC teaching Kindergarten and then as a Learning Specialist Lead and MIT Coordinator for STEM Build a Plane. Viteri's incredible career has span from one continent to another, Mrs. She currently works as a second grade teacher at Milton Jewish Day School in Washington DC. Viteri is a British qualified elementary and high school teacher and has twenty years experience teaching at public and private schools in the United Kingdom and USA. Viteri serves as a Corporate/Private Partnership Advisor for AYMP, Inc. Aida grew up in Sweden with diverse background and speaks more than four languages fluently. Mehari graduated from Malardalen University in Vasteras, Sweden with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Most significantly she thrives on diversity and incorporating people into teams and recongnizing and integrating varied skillsets which sets her apart as a leader. Aida loves to engage in STEM and STEAM and prides herself in enriching others on the benefits of aviation when learning engineering principles. Mehari has a extensive experience in aircraft engines, aviation safety, engineering configuration management, maintaining system requirements and deployment. Mehari currently supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a lead engineer and mentors young aviators especially girls and shares her experience and journey from Sweden to the United States. Aida has over 14 years of aviation experience and plays a key role in Air Traffic Control Systems for the National Air Space and its initiatives. Mehari serves as the Chairmwoman of the Board for AYMP, Inc.

To develop youth leadership potential through a scholarship program presented to an area school and to a student whom has shown exceptional skills and initiative to be a AYMP Leader.

To interest youth in aviation by setting up flight simulator training and mentorship seminars at area schools.

To provide pilot and mechanic training to youth through a partnership with Columbia Training Centers and other partners.

To stimulate and encourage Science Technology Engineering and Mathmatics (STEM) job opportunities for underepresented and under priviledged youth.

To expose youth to participate and advance in various types of employment in the field of aviation.

Currently, there is a lack of Aviation Educational Programs available to students in the Washington, District of Columbia region and many other areas nationwide. The Aviation Youth Mentorship Program (AYMP) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit commited to providing cost-effective initiatives to educate our youth about career opportunities in aviation.
